Betsy Perry Buys Classic Elite Yarns

The company continues to do business under the Classic Elite Yarns name and is planning to build on its solid supplier and retailer relationships. Perry purchased the business from the estate of previous owner Patricia Chew.

Classic Elite Yarns brings innovation and elegant design to the world of hand knitting, importing and packaging specialty and luxury fibers such as mohair, cashmere, silks, wools and cottons. Classic Elite Yarns currently has a presence in nearly all of the Independent Specialty Shops in the United States and Canada that supply knitters, crocheters and weavers. The company is an integral player in the promotion, growth and standards of the industry and has the expertise, infrastructure, talent and proven track record to support its network of yarn store partners.

Prior to joining the company, Perry held positions in various corporations, including Humana and the Stride Rite Corporation. She received a degree from Kendall College of Chicago and an MBA from Simmons School of Management in Boston, where she also received its prestigious Rappaport Award for her work on the Alumnae Association's Board of Directors. Perry, an avid knitter and needlepointer, serves on the Board of Directors of The National Needlearts Association and the Advisory Committee of the trade magazine, Yarn Market News.
